Brandon Marshall challenges Lions fan to boxing match

At least one Chicago Bear still has some fight left in him. And all it took was one idiotic, crap-talking Detroit Lions fan to inspire the effort. (Yes, we’re aware that the vast majority of Lions fans could fit under that umbrella).

Lions fan Anthony Kalla, feeling a bit chesty as his team threatens to do jack sh*t for the first time in 21 years, took some jabs at Marshall on Instagram in response to Marshall talking trash about the Lions and the city of Detroit last season.

Remember when you called Detroit the little brother? Haha

WELL LOOK WHOS AT THE BOTTOM NOW YOU BITCH!

Btw your mom is still a whore

Like most clowns raised and desensitized in the internet era, the 24-year-old Kalla probably assumed that his insults would go unnoticed by a human being. (Don’t worry, Anthony. I’m sure you are narcissistically Googling yourself after this crowning achievement. Hopefully you are deeply insulted by these words, as I consider you to be one dumb son of a bitch). Much to his surprise, Marshall responded on Twitter, challenging Kalla to a boxing match.

The terms were laid out thusly: If Kalla can beat the 6-foot-4, 229-pound Marshall, he gets $25,000. If he loses, he has to volunteer 100 hours at an orphanage.

Kalla agreed to the terms, adding the condition that the Bears have to win three more games and the fight has to be in Detroit. Marshall is apparently down with that provided Kalla apologizes to his mother for calling her a whore.

Kalla defended his words to Marshall in an interview with the Detroit Free-Press, casting himself as some sort of white knight upholding the honor of the fine people of the Motor City in the vein of such heroes as Sir Kid Rock and Lord Marshall Mathers.

“What he said was a low blow so I responded with a low blow,” Kalla told the Free-Press. “Why is it OK for a public figure to basically spit on an entire city? He’s a football player. Our finances have nothing to do with the team. He wanted to talk about the city I love and I decided to give him a piece of my mind.”

Kalla might have a point — picking on the city of Detroit is the equivalent of picking on the kids who ride the short bus — but never bring a guy’s mother into it. Especially when that guy can kick your ass. Because he’s gonna call you on it. You learn these things when actually interacting with people in social settings instead of taunting them over the internet.

With nothing else worth watching this Bears season, or for that matter in the boxing ring for the last several years, I hope this thing actually comes to fruition. Kalla deserves to get his bell rung — but in his defense, he’d still probably put up a more competitive fight than anyone Floyd Mayweather has recently agreed to face.
